Concepts: Juxtaposing and Uneven
The Endless House Project by Frederick Kiesler has a very circular, continuous structure which resembles a serpent. The uneven, raw exterior materials is contrasted with such delicate and smooth skin as the interior. In my monument, I have contrasted it through the use of different textures. I intentionally used a lot of dark textures, and then putting lighter one in the middle of it, as shown in the pictures below.
Preston Scott Cohen creates a more jagged, uneven structures and it's very interesting how the two architects differ from each other. For the "Uneven" concept, I have intentionally done the other part of the monument, with its base separated from the main structure. In here, there are four different extruded prisms of different heights. Three completely detached and one extruded through the main structure, still not touching it.
Looking closely, I have also placed some of the lighter textures in the middle of the lower darker region to further emphasise the juxtaposition I'm trying to achieve.
I placed the monument on the land, in the middle of river. A part of my monument makes a direct contact with the water, to contrast the landscape.
I particularly fancy this lighting because it blurs the difference between the two supposedly separate structures and make it seem like it's one.
